How membership works

SIOE membership is automatically granted upon conference registration. There is no separate membership fee or application process. SIOE is a research conference and we strongly encourage all participants to contribute a paper or organised session — this is how the community grows. Registration is not technically restricted to accepted authors, but active participation through submission is expected.

    Pay the registration fee

    The single registration fee covers both conference attendance and three years of SIOE membership. There is no separate membership fee.

    Your membership is valid for the year of registration and the two following years, giving you access to all member privileges throughout that period.

Do I need to submit a paper to register?

Registration is not technically restricted to accepted authors, but SIOE is a research conference and we strongly encourage all participants to submit a paper or organised session. Active contribution through submission is the expected way to be part of the community.

Do I need to pay a separate membership fee?

No. SIOE membership is included in the conference registration fee. There is no standalone membership subscription.

How long does my membership last?

Each conference registration grants 3 years of membership, valid for the year of the conference and the two subsequent years.

Can I attend the conference without submitting a paper?

Registration is not restricted to accepted authors, so it is technically possible. However, SIOE strongly encourages all attendees to contribute a paper or organised session. The conference exists to advance research, and active participation is what makes it valuable for everyone.

How do I access the member extranet?

Create an account at extranet.sioe.org. Once your conference registration is confirmed and paid, your membership will be activated on your account.

Who can vote in SIOE elections?

Any active member — i.e., anyone whose 3-year membership window is current — can vote in SIOE elections when they are open.
